Seasonal Content Guidelines
From FAQ-Off, the Calibre9 knowledge base
Christmas Content Guidelines
Our tips for increasing business this holiday season
- Start early: you should be making new Christmas content in August (to ensure enough lead time for writing, approval and implementation).
- Start by updating old seasonal content to be current for the new season.
- Don’t alter existing non-seasonal pages, this tends to hurt their search ranking.
- Create new product categories or service pages themed around the season.
- Make sure to link your Christmas pages in your site header.
- Calibre9 can do this for most websites
- You should start making the page(s) more visible during late September/early October
- Write new blog/news posts about Christmas. Try to target commonly searched questions and ideas such as:
- Our 2023 Christmas Gift Guide
- 7 Holiday Themed Drinks You Can Make at Home
- When to Order your Christmas Catering
- Supplements That Will Help you Survive the Holiday Season
- Best Christmas Gifts for Teenage Boys
- 5 Christmas Catering Ideas from our Chef
- Remember that people are more emotional during the holiday season and respond better to inspirational and heartwarming products and ideas.
- Sell them a feeling, not a list of features.
- If you can, emphasise that you are a small, local business.
- Recent years have seen a trend towards more supportive and conscientious buying, especially around Christmas.
- Consider sweetening the deal with Christmas deals and discounts or free shipping.
- Customers respond well to shows of “Christmas spirit”.
- Post new pages and blogs to your social media. Remind your most loyal customers to think of you this Christmas, and diversify your online presence.
- Email customers about new Christmas deals and services.
- Advertise Christmas offerings in-store.
